Maps On Line

- images of more than 60 of our popular maps. Images are jpg or pdf files and may be viewed on line or saved to your computer. Higher resolution images are available through our office.

Bulletins

- A bulletin ("yellow book") consists of illustrated text with geologic maps and cross-sections. Map scale is 1:62,500 and most are in color.

- illustrated booklets covering topics of general interest such as fossils and mineral collecting.

Special Bulletins

- illustrated text with geologic maps and cross-sections about bedrock geology by town and quadrangle. Scale varies from 1:12,000 to 1:62,500 and most are black and white.

Studies in Vermont Geology

- detailed surficial and bedrock geologic reports covering specific areas in Vermont and include such topics as rockfalls, surficial geology, sedimentation, and fault zone fabrics. (Published 1970-1988)

Environmental Geology Reports

- generalized and simplified versions of the surficial and bedrock geology, prepared for planning and other interests. Maps are in color and text is illustrated.

Economic Geology Reports

- detailed reports on the geology, geophysics and/or geochemistry of specific mines, deposits and areas.

Open File Reports

- reports are preliminary and have not been reviewed for conformity with VGS editorial standards. Reports are black and white at various scales. Digital open file reports (paper plots and data) are listed under Digital Maps.

Digital Maps

- data and/or as computer-plotted color paper maps. The digital bedrock maps (VGS & USGS maps) are preliminary and have been developed as interim products for contribution to the new State Map of Vermont. Surficial and bedrock data may be downloaded directly from VCGI.
