Sites Management Section
| The Sites Management Section (SMS) provides
state oversight for the investigation and cleanup of properties
where a release of a hazardous material has contaminated the environment
including soils, groundwater, surface water and indoor air. The
primary authority for this oversight can be found in 10 V.S.A.
Section 6615. A list of properties being managed under this program
is maintained by SMS and can be found in both online database form (WM-ID) and by
geographic location, (GIS
Site). The GIS Site page includes, for most sites, electronic
copies of important site information, including the initial site
investigation report. The SMS has developed Guidance Documents
to assist site owners and consultants on understanding and proceeding
through the site management process. |
