Every year the department’s fish hatcheries work hard to increase your chances of angling success in Vermont. Whether you’re looking to catch a beautiful “Trophy Trout” on the Winooski River or cast for brookies in a stocked stream near you, this year’s stocking schedule will not let you down.

Regular stocking updates will begin the first week of May and will continue until all stocking is complete.

2015 will see the continuation of the VT “Trophy” fish stocking program. 2015 will be an exciting year of angling if you like catching big fish.

The destruction of the Roxbury Fish Hatchery by Tropical Storm Irene has resulted in fewer trout being stocked in inland lakes and streams. Roxbury produced a significant number of yearling and trophy fish every year and the department plans on rebuilding the hatchery.
