Air Monitoring Section

The Air Monitoring Section maintains an air quality monitoring program to measure ozone, nitrogen oxides, carbon monoxide, particulate matter, sulfur dioxide and toxic elements. There are monitoring stations in Underhill, Burlington, Rutland and Bennington. This information is collected as part of a federal Environmental Protection Agency program and published by the EPA in an annual report. Other information is collected to establish permit limits. This section also conducts air studies and is responsible for the continuous emissions monitoring program.
