Through the Agency's investigation it was discovered that The Offset House, Inc. disposed of roller cleaner onto the ground, a violation of hazardous materials disposal regulations. The investigation also revealed that this company failed to properly store other waste and did not provide necessary hazardous materials training to employees.

The matter came to light as a result of a citizen complaint that was investigated by environmental enforcement officer Sean McVeigh. After the investigation was completed, The Offset House, Inc. was notified of the violations and agreed to settle the matter.

The settlement was reduced to an assurance of discontinuance and was so ordered by the Environmental Court on August 9, 2002. In it, The Offset House, Inc. agreed to provide necessary training to the employees, properly maintain the facility, and pay a civil penalty of $15,000 to the State of Vermont for the violations.
