Through the Agency's investigation, it was discovered that the Town of Weathersfield operated a transfer station without a permit for many years. Efforts were made to get the town to submit an application, but the town failed to do so.

The matter came to light as a result of a routine, agency compliance inspection. After the investigation was completed, the Town of Weathersfield was notified of the violations and agreed to settle the matter.

The settlement was reduced to an assurance of discontinuance and was so ordered by the Environmental Court on March 26, 2004. In it, the Town of Weathersfield agreed to and has applied for the necessary permits. It was also agreed that a $5,000 supplemental environmental project will be funded.
