State of Vermont Press Release May 17, 2006 Through the Agency's investigation, it was discovered that Vermont Machine Tool Corporation, in the course of doing business, had a number of relatively minor hazardous waste storage violations in addition to a violation for operating a small chrome electroplating tank without the required permit and without the necessary emission control technology. These matters came to light as a result of a routine inspection by the Agency's Waste Management Division. After the investigation was completed, Vermont Machine Tool Corporation was notified of the violations, corrected them immediately, and subsequently agreed to settle the matter. The settlement was reduced to an Assurance of Discontinuance and was so ordered by the Environmental Court on May 8, 2006. In it, Vermont Machine Tool Corporation agreed to comply with all applicable regulations in the operation of its business. It was also agreed that a civil penalty of $5,500 will be paid to the State of Vermont for the violations.
