East Hardwick Fire District #1

WATERBURY- Agency of Natural Resources Secretary Thomas Torti today announced that the Enforcement Division has formally settled an environmental violation involving the East Hardwick Fire District #1, which is a Public Community Water System. The settlement includes a $5,250 supplemental environmental project.

The East Hardwick Fire District #1 was notified of the violations and agreed to settle the matter.

The settlement was reduced to an Assurance of Discontinuance and was so ordered by the Environmental Court on June 5, 2006. In it, the East Hardwick Fire District #1 agreed to install a continuous (stand-by) chlorine disinfection system by a certain date and correct other deficiencies as identified during the sanitary survey. It was also agreed that a $5,250 supplemental environmental project will be funded.
