State of Vermont April 07, 2004 In June of 2003, Wagner Forest Management Ltd. reported to the Department of Forests, Parks, and Recreation (FPR) that in the course of conducting logging operations in Killington, Vermont, it had exceeded the acreage allowed in its Heavy Cut Permit. The Heavy Cut Permit allowed Wagner to cut 150 acres. In October of 2003, Wagner and FPR personnel conducted a site visit and determined that approximately 215 acres had been cut. Approximately fourteen acres of the cut occurred above 2,500 feet in elevation. After the inspection was completed, Wagner Forest Management Ltd. agreed to settle the matter. The settlement was reduced to an assurance of discontinuance and was so ordered by the Environmental Court on March 31, 2004. Wagner Forest Management Ltd. agreed to complete remediation and to fund a $6,500.00 supplemental environmental project.
