The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), in conjunction with the Vermont Department of Environmental Conservation and the Vermont Agency of Agriculture, Food and Markets, is holding a series of six public meetings in December, 2013, to discuss the new phosphorus plan that is under development by the EPA for the Lake Champlain Basin, referred to as a Total Maximum Daily Load (TMDL). This meeting is one of the 6 meetings in the series.

Climate Change and Vermont Workshop

Natural resource managers face the tremendous challenge of developing and implementing management actions that help ecosystems respond to climate change. This session will: Provide information on the current and anticipated effects of climate change on Vermont and its forests; Describe new resources and tools that can be used to integrate climate change into management; Identify actions that enhance the ability of forests and other ecosystems to adapt to changing conditions; Show real-world examples of natural resource adaptation efforts. Speakers include: Michael Snyder, Commissioner, VT Dept of FP&R, Chris Swanston & Maria Janowiak, Northern Institute of Applied Climate Science & US Forest Service; Alan Betts, Atmospheric Research; Sandy Wilmot, VT Dept of FP&R.
