State of Vermont Press Release October 11, 2006 As a result of routine Agency inspections, it was discovered that Springfield Electroplating, Inc., violated its Air Pollution Control operating permit, by failing to maintain required records and conduct necessary emissions control tests on the chrome electroplating tank. The company also violated the Hazardous Waste Management regulations by failing to maintain a training program for employees, failing to maintain required records, and failing to properly manage hazardous materials. These matters came to light as a result of Agency inspections. After the inspections were completed, Springfield Electroplating, Inc. was notified of the violations and agreed to settle the matter. The settlement was reduced to an Assurance of Discontinuance and was so ordered by the Environmental Court on September 28, 2006. In it, Springfield Electroplating, Inc. agreed to pay a civil penalty of $9,000 to the State of Vermont for the violations.
