State of Vermont Press Release August 01, 2007 Through the Agency's routine oversight, it was discovered that the Town of Cavendish failed to renew its certification to operate its transfer station, despite reminders and the issuance of a Notice of Alleged Violation. (A similar matter occurred and was resolved with an Assurance of Discontinuance in 2000). Early this year an Administrative Order was issued and the Town of Cavendish then filed an administratively complete renewal application. The settlement was then reduced to an Assurance of Discontinuance and was so ordered by the Environmental Court on July 31, 2007. In it, the Town of Cavendish agreed to comply with Vermont's environmental laws in the operation of its transfer station, including the timely filing of its certification renewal application in the future. It was also agreed that a $6,500 supplemental environmental project will be funded.
