State of Vermont Press Release September 16, 2002 Through the Agency's investigation, it was discovered that Whispering Pines Mobile Home Park did not properly operate its water system when it failed to do the following, as required by Vermont Water Supply Rules: conduct necessary testing, submit reports related to the testing, issue public notice, and prepare a source protection plan. The matter came to light as a result of the Agency's routine compliance monitoring. After the investigation was completed, Whispering Pines Mobile Home Park was notified of the violations and agreed to settle the matter. The settlement was reduced to an assurance of discontinuance and was so ordered by the Environmental Court on September 13, 2002. In it, Whispering Pines Mobile Home Park agreed to bring the water system into compliance and has hired an engineer to help do so. It was also agreed that a civil penalty of $4,500 will be paid to the State of Vermont for the violations. Involved Program: Water Supply Division of the Department of Environmental Conservation |
