State of Vermont Press Release September 30, 2003 Through the Agency's regulatory oversight it was discovered that Danby Mount Tabor Fire District No. 1, in the course of operating the water system, failed to do the following: submit complete monthly reports, provide continuous disinfection, and comply with compliance deadlines set forth in their temporary operating permit. Danby Mount Tabor Fire District No. 1 was notified of the violations and agreed to settle the matter. The water system has begun the process of attaining compliance and has drilled a well in order to develop a supplemental water source. The settlement was reduced to an assurance of discontinuance and was so ordered by the Environmental Court on August 27, 2003. In it, Danby Mount Tabor Fire District No. 1 agreed to come into compliance with the water supply regulations. It was also agreed that a $3,500 supplemental environmental project will be funded.
