WATERBURY- Agency of Natural Resources Secretary Elizabeth McLain today announced that the Enforcement Division has formally settled an environmental violation involving Green Crow Corporation. This company is a registered corporation in the state of Washington and was conducting logging operations in Duxbury. The settlement includes a $4,000 penalty.

While conducting a Use Value Appraisal, the Agency became aware of violations of Acceptable Management Practices (AMPs). In a subsequent inspection conducted by Forest, Parks and Recreation foresters and environmental enforcement officer Sean McVeigh, numerous serious AMP violations were discovered.

After the investigation was completed, Green Crow Corporation was notified of the violations and agreed to settle the matter. It also took steps to remediate the violations and comply with the AMPs.

The settlement was reduced to an assurance of discontinuance and was so ordered by the Environmental Court on February 25, 2003. In it, Green Crow Corporation agreed to comply with AMPs and pay a civil penalty of $4,000 to the State of Vermont for the violations.
