State of Vermont Compliance & Enforcement Division How to Report an Environmental Violation
Information received from Vermont's citizens is vital to our efforts to protect Vermont's environment. If you observe or have knowledge of any activity that may be a threat to human health, cause harm to the environment or if you believe a violation of Vermont's environmental laws has taken place, we urge you to contact us. The sooner a violation is reported, the greater are our chances of limiting the threat to human health and the environment and of first identifying and then potentially prosecuting the violator if that is deemed appropriate. You may submit a written complaint to us electronically, or by filling out an Environmental Violation Report form and sending it by mail. You may also telephone us directly at 802-828-1254, during normal work hours. Please review the questions in the above form (or via the links below) before calling us as we will be asking you those questions during your call. You may file complaints and report violations anonymously. If you wish to remain anonymous, do NOT give your name when calling or completing a complaint form. If you need to file an urgent complaint outside of normal business hours, you may contact an Environmental Enforcement Officer, or call the Vermont State Police. Electronically submit an Environmental Violation FORM to file an Environmental Violation Fish & Wildlife Law Enforcement CONTACT US:
