Multiple fractures in bedrock, Westmore, VT
(2 -2000).
The fractured granite is from the
Devonian Willoughby Pluton which is part of
the Northeast Kingdom batholith (see
Westerman web page and Ayuso and Arth,1992). |
In May 2000 a rockfall
blocked Route 5A on
the east side of Lake Willoughby (2 -2000).

was originally situated at the top of the scar
because the lack of tree damage above the
scar indicates that this rockslide did not
