FEMA Award to the Vermont Geological Survey

The Vermont Geological
Survey received the 2004 Award for Excellence for Multi-Jurisdictional
Planning at the National
Earthquake Conference in Missouri in September.
The Survey was recognized as a leader in New England in using the
HAZUS program and for its work with
Regional Planning Commissions to get earthquake information into
regional and town pre-disaster mitigation plans.
In a region where damaging earthquakes are regarded by the general
population as an almost non-existent phenomenon, the VGS has worked
to educate the public and make them aware of the reality that this
very real threat poses. |
