What's New?

May 4, 2012 - You can download the map as a single-image poster-size 15 mb pdf (not at 1:100,000 scale). You still need to download the legend as a separate pdf.

April 12, 2012 - Click the link for information for data and images for the Bedrock Geologic Map of Vermont (2011) which was officially released April 11 at the Vermont Statehouse. To order a paper copy of the map, click here. For more information on how the map was made, go to Evolution of the new Bedrock Geologic Map of Vermont.

April 11, 2012 - Press release from Governor Shumlin's Office; Bedrock Geologic Map of Vermont -The Inside Story; US Geological Survey Press Release, or hear about the map on Vermont Edition

2/15/2012 - Georeferenced map images for VGS Bulletins, Environmental Series, and original surficial maps are on line at: http://geothermal.isgs.illinois.edu/ArcGIS/rest/services/aasggeothermal. Once at the site, click on the VT file name and you will be given options to download ArcGIS Explorer then view the files or to view files in ArcGis.com (this clickable link is recommended and will bring the map up), both are free from ESRI. AT the bottom of the page you can also create a kml file, then view in Google Earth. Many thanks to Melony Barrett at the Illinois GS "hub" and to the geothermal grant program through DOE and AZGS.
