Organic Chemistry

The Organic Chemistry lab supports Air Pollution Control and Waste Management Division of the DEC. Analyses are performed using gas chromatography, gas chromatography-mass spectroscopy and liquid chromatography. Water and solid samples are tested for polychlorinated biphenyls (PCB), semi-volatile organic compounds, volatile organic compounds (VOC), pesticides, fuels, and other organic compounds. Air samples are tested for VOCs and carbonyl compounds.
