Brownfields Reuse Initiative
Cleanup Standards and Guidance
The Department of Environmental
Conservation recognizes that reuse of brownfield properties
is a time and fact sensitive process. Each project is
managed in a way that considers the specific risk presented
by the contaminants identified. This provides brownfields
developers with a flexible approach for meeting their redevelopment
needs. Utilization of containment technologies and institutional
controls as means of achieving safe, practical and economical
cleanups are supported as a cornerstone of this approach.
