Notification Requirement

NEW  During the 2010 legislative session House Bill H.779 was passed which creates an obligation on all applicants for a Wastewater System and Potable Water Supply Permit to notify other landowners whenever the isolation distances related to wastewater system and potable water supplies extend onto property not owned by the applicant.  Governor Douglas signed the bill and Act 145 became effective on June 2, 2010.  The following documents provide additional information for applicants and their consultants:

Notification Requirements Guidance Document (Guidance 2010-01)

Certification Statement for use by applicants in complying with the requirement

Sample Cover Letter for use by applicants to notify other landowners

Addison County Disposal System Evaluation Report

The Vermont Legislature commissioned a study of "difficult" soils in Addison County to be done in 2007. After an open bidding process, the firm of Heindel and Noyes was selected as the contractor.  Twenty seven existing systems were evaluated and the site characteristics for each system were examined.  These documents include the report, an appendix with the detailed site evaluation information, and a letter to the contractor along with the contractor's reply.  Any questions or comments may be directed to Roger Thompson, Regional Office Manager, at 802-241-3027 or by e-mail at Roger.B.Thompson@state.vt.us
