Green Your School!• Start a recycling program for your school. If you already one, evaluate the current program to find new ways to reduce waste and conserve more materials• Organize a clean-up day for your school and the surrounding area• Conserve paper by using both sides of a page in your notebooks, buy recycled paper, and make sure there is a paper recycling bin in every classroom• Choose reusable utensils, trays, and dishes in the cafeteria• Collect used printer, fax, and copier cartridges to recycle• Choose energy-efficient appliances for everything from light bulbs and exit signs to heating systems and vending machines to help save energy and money• Start a school garden to use compost, plant trees and flowers, and create a space for everyone to enjoy nature• Walk or bike to school and invite your friends to join you• Remind students, teachers, and staff of how important the environment is by posting flyers, inviting experts to speak, and watching documentaries in class• Organize Earth Day events for your school on April 22nd• Create an environmental mascot for your school. Have a contest to see which student or class can come up with the best mascot and slogan• On Earth Day, everyone write down one way that can help the Earth.
